What caused Delta Airlines plane crash at Toronto airport?
On Monday, a Delta Airlines jet crashed at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada, flipping the passenger aircraft upside down. According to reports, at least eight passengers were injured, with one sent to the hospital in severe condition. Following the event, rescue activities were commenced on the scene, and an investigation was undertaken to determine the reason of the accident.

According to eyewitness reports and social media footage, the jet, a Mitsubishi CRJ-900LR, appeared to have rolled over onto its back on a snowy runway. The incident happened about 11:47 a.m. local time, when Delta Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, arrived from Minneapolis with around 80 passengers on board.
The cause of the crash is yet unknown, although aviation experts believe that severe crosswinds and a slippery runway may have contributed to the catastrophe. Toronto saw exceptionally strong winds on Monday afternoon, which may have contributed to the disaster.
"We're still investigating the cause of the crash, but it's clear that the weather conditions were challenging," said an airport official.
The collision occurred during a weekend winter storm in the area that deposited over nine inches of snow at the airport. Crews worked overnight Sunday to clean all runways, although it is unclear whether the icy weather contributed to the disaster.
Videos shared on social media showed the airliner upside down, with first responders splashing water on it. At least eight persons are said to have been hurt, although the nature of their injuries could not be confirmed immediately.
According to the airport, all passengers and personnel were accounted for. The airport authorities and rescue teams responded immediately to the situation, and all activities at the Toronto airport were suspended following the crash landing.
Toronto Pearson International Airport verified the incident in a statement, saying, "Toronto Pearson is aware of an incident upon landing involving a Delta Airlines plane arriving from Minneapolis. Emergency teams are responding. All passengers and crew are accounted for."
The incident is the latest in a series of aviation catastrophes that have engulfed the United States in recent weeks.
Last month, an American Airlines airplane collided with an Army helicopter, while a medical transport plane crashed into a Philadelphia neighborhood. Not only that, but last week two crew members evacuated from a Navy plane before it crashed off the coast of San Diego.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the cause of the incident continues, and additional information is anticipated to be disclosed soon.
