Cybertruck explosion outside Trump Tower in Las Vegas leaves one dead and seven injured

A Tesla cybertruck exploded outside of President-elect Donald Trump's hotel in Las Vegas, killing one person and injuring seven others.

The explosion occurred at 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday in the valet area outside the lobby of the Trump International Hotel, located at Las Vegas Boulevard and Sammy Davis Jr. Drive.

At a press conference, Las Vegas County Sheriff Kevin McMahill said that one individual died inside the car and that efforts were underway to recover the corpse.

"There is one deceased individual in the Cybertruck, and I don't know whether it's a male or female," McMahill said.

"At this point, we are examining a number of leads, and I am not ready to share any of that information with you just now. We can. I can tell you that seven people are currently injured as a result of the explosion.

He added that the injuries were apparently minor.

Clark County firefighters have now extinguished the fire. The motive was not immediately determined, although McMahill noted during the news conference that officials are "very well aware" of the New Orleans assault, in which a man purposely drove a vehicle into a throng of people celebrating New Year's Eve just hours before, killing ten people.

He stated that officials are "taking all of the precautions that we need to take to keep our community safe" and are "looking for secondary devices."

Social media videos captured several viewpoints of the enormous explosion. Guests at the hotel and on surrounding properties told FOX5 that they heard loud explosion, which several characterized as louder than New Year's Eve fireworks.

Eric Trump, the president-elect's son and the Trump Organization's executive vice president, commented about the fire on the social networking site X.

He thanked the fire crew and local law enforcement for their quick reaction and professionalism.

The 64-story hotel is just off the famed Las Vegas Strip and across the street from the Fashion Show Las Vegas shopping mall. TA
